Version 1.2.1 update!


Today is the day, I have uploaded the revision to the appendices collection. This update includes several new optional mechanics and 50 spells (25 each in both magic and religion), so I'm pretty excited about it. Lots of tweaks have been done in order to streamline play by cutting away things that get in the way (such as extraneous monster stats, the idea of simultaneous combat rolls) and allowing for faster resolution. Then again, there are also several things that could add layers of complexity should you want that (mainly the new optional mechanics, including things such as assisting other players, magic spell costs, monster reactions and morale, etc.). 

I had fun writing up the critical hits and misses tables; I really tried to keep the results from becoming absolute haymakers or crushing blows to the players while still making them impactful. It is critical (pun somewhat intended) to remember, though, that the critical tables are completely optional, that results can always be rerolled, and especially that the chances of getting them are compounded by the chances of a critical roll plus rolling that specific result. I say this because some have said they don't like piling hurt on the players and the fact is that I totally agree. The fact is that critical misses shouldn't affect players with too much frequency due to the compound probability, and that they will also affect monsters.

Now that these updates are rolled out, I have plans for some future updates that I'm increasingly excited for. Please give me any feedback from actual use that you have of these, I'd love to know what works for you and what anyone finds problematic.
